What Is the Emotion Code? (And Why You Might Still Be Carrying Things You Thought You Let Go)
You snap at someone you love over something small, and afterward you wonder where that came from.
You check your bank balance twice, even when you know what it says.
You've talked it through, journaled it, prayed about it, and a certain memory still sits heavy in your chest.
If any of that sounds familiar, you're not broken, and you're not doing healing wrong. You may be carrying emotions that never had a chance to leave. That's what the Emotion Code works with.
What are trapped emotions?
Think about the hardest seasons of your life. A breakup. A loss. A childhood home that never felt calm. A job where you held your breath every day.
In those moments, you felt a lot. And often, you had to keep going: get the kids to school, show up to work, hold it together. There wasn't room to fully feel it.
The Emotion Code is based on the idea that emotions from experiences like these can stay with you. Practitioners call them trapped emotions. You moved on, but a piece of that grief, fear or resentment stayed behind, and it can quietly shape how you react today.
That's why something small can trigger something big. The reaction belongs to an older moment.
What is the Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code is an energy healing method developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. It's a structured way to find trapped emotions, identify when they started, and release them.
During a session, the practitioner uses muscle testing, a way of asking the body simple yes or no questions, to identify:
- Which emotion is trapped, from a chart of 60 emotions such as grief, abandonment, worry and resentment
- When it became trapped, often down to an age or a specific period of your life
- Whether it's ready to be released
Then the emotion is released with intention, and the process repeats for the next one.
The moment it clicks
Most people expect energy work to feel vague. What surprises them is how specific it is.
Picture opening your session report and seeing grief, age 12 on the page. You know exactly what happened that year. You haven't thought about it in a long time, and there it is.
That moment of recognition is what clients mention again and again:
"She picked up on emotions that were exact time frames of very intense periods in my life so it was really amazing to see them come up and validated her abilities."
Amanda L.
"The emotions released were spot on for what I had been feeling during that time."

Why I do this work
I'm Danielle, and I've practiced energy healing for over a decade. I trained as a Reiki Master and a Healing Touch practitioner before I found the Emotion Code.
Then life brought me to my knees. During one of the hardest periods I've ever walked through, I tried the Emotion Code on myself. It surfaced emotions tied to exact periods of my life that I never realized were still weighing on me years later. Releasing them reached a place that talking about it never quite had.
That's why Peace by Peace Healing exists: finding your peace, piece by piece.
Can an Emotion Code session be done remotely?
Yes, and for many people that's the easiest part. Remote sessions are a standard part of Emotion Code practice. I work on your behalf using your name and your intention for the session.
With Peace by Peace Healing:
- No calls. You don't have to explain your story out loud.
- No video. You don't have to show up or be "on."
- No appointment. You don't have to rearrange your day.
You book, fill out a short intake form, and go about your life. Fold the laundry. Pick up the kids. Your session happens without you needing to be present.
What you receive: a written report
Every session ends with a detailed written report sent to your email:
- Each emotion that was released
- When it became trapped
- A plain-language definition of each one
- Gentle guidance for the days after your session
You get something real to hold onto, read again, and reflect on.
"The release felt like a weight off my shoulders. The report also helped me with my own reflection looking back and honouring some feelings in the past."
James
What is the Heart Wall?
Some people build protection around their heart after heartbreak, grief or long stretches of stress. In the Emotion Code, this is called the Heart Wall: layers of trapped emotions that form an energetic wall around the heart.
If you've ever felt guarded in relationships, or found it hard to let people in even when you want to, Heart Wall clearing is worth learning about. It's offered as its own session.
Is the Emotion Code a replacement for therapy or medical care?
No. The Emotion Code is a complementary energy practice. It does not diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition, and it's not a substitute for professional care. Many people use it alongside therapy and the other support in their lives.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to believe in it for it to work?
You don't need any special beliefs. An open mind and a clear intention are enough.
What if I don't know what to focus on?
That's completely fine. Many people start with a general emotional release, and the session finds what's ready to come up.
Will I feel anything afterward?
Experiences vary. Some people feel lighter. Others feel tired for a day while things settle. Rest and water help.
